JON GREENWOOD

DIRECTOR / LEAD INSTRUCTOR

A Cole Harbour native, Jon is Head Coach of the Truro Junior ‘A’ Bearcats of the Maritime Hockey League. Previously, Jon was an assistant coach with the Saint Mary’s University Men’s Hockey Team for 3 years after serving 7 seasons as Assistant Coach with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. 

He was the Head Coach for Team Nova Scotia at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta. 

From 2012-14 Jon was the Head Coach of the Cole Harbour WolfPack of the Nova Scotia Under 18 Major Hockey League winning Coach of the Year in 2014.

ERIN KING

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Erin is well known in the Nova Scotia hockey community as a coach and skills instructor.


Formerly an assistant coach with both the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL and the StFX X-Men of U Sports, Erin is now the Director of Hockey and Leadership at East Coast Varsity in Dartmouth, NS.


Erin is a Certified Hockey Canada High Performance 1 Coach and has a passion for developing hockey skills in players of all ages.

LEA MACLEOD

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Lea MacLeod is a dynamic forward who combines scoring touch, playmaking ability, and hockey IQ. She began skating at age 2 and played boys’ hockey through bantam before joining prep school programs and eventually excelling at St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) in U SPORTS, where she was a key contributor, amassing 32 points (12G, 20A) in the 2022‑23 AUS season and earning First Team All-Star honors.

 

Internationally, MacLeod represented Team Atlantic at U18 nationals, demonstrating early leadership and a competitive spirit. After graduating, she launched her professional journey in Europe, first signing with Germany’s ERC Ingolstadt and tallying an impressive 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in just 21 games. Lea moved to SC Bern in the Swiss Women’s Hockey League for the 2024‑25 season finishing with 26 points in 28 games, solidifying her reputation as a top-tier import player.

 

Off the ice, she’s recognized for her analytical approach, leveraging video review to refine her game, and her commitment to mentorship, making her an inspiring role model for young athletes. Lea brings to a hockey camp a rare mix of high-level college and pro experience, international exposure, competitive drive, and leadership, ensuring our Cole Harbour campers can only improve in her presence.

EMMA MARTIN

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Emma Martin was a tenacious two-way defenseman with deep roots in Canadian women’s hockey. A standout at UPEI, she earned AUS Second Team All-Star honors in 2016–17 and served as a steady presence on the blueline while majoring in science.

She transitioned to the professional ranks with the Montreal Canadiennes of the CWHL in 2018–19. Poised, puck-moving, and reliable in her own zone, Emma also gave back to the sport as a volunteer assistant coach with McGill in 2019–20.

Emma is now a Junior High School teacher and a certified CrossFit Coach. Her hockey IQ, leadership, and commitment to the next generation of players make her an inspiring mentor and coach, our campers will benefit not just from her experience on the ice, but also from her passion for player development and team culture.

TYLER HINAM

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Tyler Hinam is a determined and energetic right winger currently starring for the Manchester Storm in the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He’s a power-forward known for strong performances in all three zones.

 

Hinam came up through the QMJHL ranks with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Cape Breton Eagles, earning back-to-back President’s Cup and a Memorial Cup in 2019, peaking with a 58-point season in 2019‑20. In 2023 he headed to Europe, signing with Manchester, where he posted 67 points in 87 EIHL games over the last 2 seasons.

 

Known for his hardworking style, leadership, and relentless drive, rooted in childhood backyard rink sessions and overcoming early injuries, Hinam brings grit, passion, and a champion’s mindset that will motivate and elevate our 2025 campers!

ROY DEMPSEY

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Coach Roy brings over two decades of experience in strength and conditioning, off-ice hockey training, and athletic development. A dedicated educator and leader, Roy is currently a teacher and Athletic Director at Woodlawn High School, where he’s spent the past 13 years helping student-athletes thrive on and off the field.

 

Since 2004, Roy has worked with athletes of all levels through Total Hockey Training, the Halifax Mooseheads, and Fusion Hockey, specializing in off-ice workouts, dryland training, and hockey-specific conditioning. His coaching journey began in 2005 and spans a variety of levels, always focusing on helping players grow stronger, faster, and more confident in their game.

 

Outside the rink and gym, Roy is a proud family man who loves spending time with his wife Jill and their two sons, Heath and Huck. He enjoys all sports, going for runs, country music, reading, and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hopefully our campers don't hold that last part against him!

TODD BENGERT

GOALTENDER DEVELOPMENT

Todd is the Owner of Upper Echelon Goaltending (20 years) and has served as the Goaltending Coach for the Dalhousie Tigers Women’s Hockey Team for the last three years, as well as Goaltender Development Consultant for Cole Harbour Bel Ayr Minor Hockey (since 2023). He has coached goaltenders from U7 to U Sports, with a focus on technical precision, mental resilience, and long-term growth.

We are excited to have Coach Todd join us for his first year at Cole Harbour Hockey School!

JONAH LEROUX

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

In 2023 the Halifax Mooseheads hired power skating coach Jonah as an additional asset for the continued development of the players within the organization.

Leroux brings a wealth of hockey knowledge to our camp, stemming from a lengthy playing career in the OHL that saw him appear in more than 300 games with the Oshawa Generals, Brampton Battalion, Ottawa 67’s and Sudbury Wolves. He later played U Sports for three seasons with the Dalhousie Tigers.

Jonah is extremely knowledgeable, has excellent communication skills, and is an excellent demonstrator of skating and hockey skills.  His ability to keep kids engaged and enthusiasm for developing young hockey players is second to none and we are very excited to have Jonah on our team.

LUKE HENMAN

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Luke Henman is a dynamic two-way centre currently playing for the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL under contract with the Seattle Kraken. He was originally selected 96th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

 

Henman honed his skills over five seasons with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the Q with 63 goals, and 151 assists in 225 games and serving as team captain during his final two years.

In May 2021, he made history by becoming the first-ever player to sign with the Kraken franchise, inking a three‑year entry-level contract.

 

Since turning pro, Henman has showcased his versatility, penalty-killing acumen, and playmaking capabilities. Off the ice, he’s recognized for his work ethic, character, and consistent presence in the locker room—qualities sure to benefit and inspire campers as he returns for his 2nd year at Cole Harbour Hockey School.

CHRIS LARADE

HOCKEY INSTRUCTOR

Chris Larade recently completed his 14th season as head coach of the Saint Mary’s University Women’s Hockey team, compiling a 181-98-17 record over the last eight seasons. He led the Huskies to AUS championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018, including a national bronze medal in 2016—the program’s first. His teams have consistently been nationally ranked, reaching as high as #1 in 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.

 

A three-time AUS and two-time U SPORTS Coach of the Year, Larade is the first to win the national honour in back-to-back seasons (2016, 2017). He has also coached at multiple levels in Hockey Nova Scotia’s High Performance Program, including leading Team Atlantic at the 2017 U18 Nationals and serving as assistant coach at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

 

His previous roles include three seasons with Metro Boston Pizza U18AAA (3 provincial titles, 2 Atlantic silver medals), and assistant coach with the StFX X-Women (1 AUS title, 2 national appearances).

 

Larade holds High Performance 1 and Level 3 certifications and is a graduate of Human Kinetics and Education at StFX. He lives in Halifax with his wife Sarah and their children, Paige and Blake.

GROUP LEADERS

We find some of the best young leaders in our community to join our camp each summer. Many of our group leaders return each year, and some of them have been past campers themselves. These group leaders are responsible for our many groups and ensure a safe and fun learning environment throughout the whole day. These group leaders share a common background in hockey and have played various levels of hockey including the QMJHL, CIS, and NCAA Division I.
